Exploring the Impact of the African Declaration on Digital Rights: A Decade of Advocacy and Progress

The NMT Media Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the first report in a series of publications marking the 10th anniversary of the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms (AfDec).

Titled “Ten Years of Building a Movement for Digital Rights in Africa: Impact of the African Declaration on Rights and Freedoms in Africa”, this report, written by Koliwe Majama, offers a comprehensive reflection on the AfDec Coalition’s decade-long journey in advocating for digital rights across the African continent.

This report chronicles the Coalition’s efforts, partnerships, and achievements, showcasing the enduring relevance of the AfDec principles in shaping policies and regulations related to digital rights. The publication examines how AfDec has guided advocacy campaigns and informed the development of strategies for internet freedom, media policies, and digital inclusion in Africa.

As the AfDec Coalition’s fiscal and implementing partner, the NMT Media Foundation has been directly involved in supporting the publication and dissemination of this landmark report.
